Abstract: In the frontiers of artificial creativity, machines are acting more as partners than tools in creative practice. Instead of, or in addition to, expediting and automating mundane tasks, artificial intelligence (Ai) is now able to give suggestions from the tiniest details to the big picture, working together with a human artist to form a complete artistic experience. I have been exploring these frontiers for several years in my own music practice using systems built from applying machine learning to traditional dance music. This has uncovered a variety of interesting frictions with regards to divine origins of creativity, the importance of authenticity, and of course human redundancy. My talk will give an overview of my poetic and scientific research, and discuss some of these significant issues, complete with musical examples.
